Greater occipital N: This is commonly seen and usually is diagnosed as greater occipital neuralgia. The pain may radiate from the upper neck/back of head to the top and sides of head. It may occur unilaterally (one side) or bilaterally (both sides). Treatment includes physical therapy, medication, injections and/or complementary and alternative medicine.
