Old blood: Generally, the brown color of the discharge indicates old blood in vaginal secretions. It may mean that the shed uterine contents have taken a little while to travel down your vagina & the blood has darkened. Hormonal imbalances may contribute. This type of pattern would not be unusual in a young woman's early reproductive life. I don't think it is particularly worrisome, but discuss with your doc
