Not invasive: Treatment of cutaneous myiasis includes occlusive salves and dressings and surgical removal of larvae by a medical profession. After removal, the wound should be cleaned frequently, and kept covered. Proper hygiene of wounds is very important when treating myiasis. Cutaneous myiasis does not usually spread, it is caused by a different type of flies than those that cause intestinal infestation.
