What is Kratom?: Answer too complicated for why pharm companies can and can't make certain medications. Profits, side effects, safety etc.

Kratom: Kratom does stimulate the same receptor that hydrocodone stimulates and so they share some properties. However, kratom has a number of other psychoactive effects that hydrocodone does not share. No doubt, pharmaceutical companies have looked at it.
