Not Long: The half-life of Tylenol (acetaminophen) in healthy adults is 2-3 hours. Half-life means the time it takes for half of the substance to be eliminated by the body. As a general rule, a drug is gone after 5 half-lives. So, you can do the math.

Acetaminophen: Tylenol (acetaminophen) has a half life of 2-3 hours in healthy adults. A drug's half-life is time it takes for a drug's blood level to decrease by 50%. Because of a relatively short half-life, it's dosing frequency is every 4-6 hours.
