Small stye on upper lid for 3 weeks now. using hot compress and erythromycin cream. stye remains unchanged. what do i do? can i wear contacts?

May need drainage: A stye that remains after 3 weeks of treatment may require incision and drainage to remove the now hardened infected material. Contacts should b OK if the fit is not altered by the stye-- now probably chalazion pressing on it

Have it re-evaluated: 3 weeks is a long time to continue to have a stye after appropriate warm compressions. Have it re-evaluated in person by a healthcare professional. In the meantime, I would not use contact lenses until the stye is addressed.

See Eye doctor: You may need systemic antibiotics or drainage of the stye. Best not to wear your contacts until infection is cleared. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
