Two main types: The most common one is called osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease which happens to most of us as we grow into older yers(> 50yr). The second one is called rheumatoid arthritis which can develop at any age, it mainly affetcs the small joints(hands/ feet predominate) and it is much more painful and debilitating. Other uncommon ones include gout related and psoriasis related arthrities.

Inflammatory involves a systemic condition which is attacking your joints or creating inflammation (rheumatoid, gout, psoriatic, lyme disease, etc.). The non-inflammatory is osteoarthritis (aka degenerative and wear-and-tear). This is the arthritis of wear or aging.
