Ulcer - Gastritis: The nocturnal pain and the hunger sensation could be secondary to a peptic ulcer. This occurs when there is excessive secretion of gastric acid, or intake of medications like Motrin, Aspirin, Advil (ibuprofen) etc etc., or bacteria in the lining of the stomach (H.pylori). If persist an upper endoscopy (EGD) could help make the diagnosis.
