Biopsy...: see another dentist, see an oral surgeon to have it biopsied, see an ENT. This is not normal and should not be ignored.

Always possible: Most malignances of the oral cavity begin on lateral tongue, floor of mouth and pharynx followed by tonsil. Soft palate, when involved develops minor salivary gland nodular tumors or occasional the equivalent of leukoplakia. If latter suspected simple punch bx with novacaine needed.
