Need exam: Heavy bleeding with an IUD requires an examination to confirm that it is still in the proper location. Since it is not responding to medication the IUD may be partially expelled intro the cervix.

Iud: The character of your menstrual flow will change because of the IUD. How long has it been in place? If it was recently placed then I would give it several months to see where you are going to end up. If you have had it for several months already (>6), then my advice would be to see your gyn and try to come to a solution, whether changing to something else or add back meds that will work for you.
