Brown discharge: Period blood varies from bright red, to dark, to brown. There's iron in blood cells, and when it oxidizes, or rusts, it changes color. At start of period it's red, then brown. During perimenopause, periods start brown then red then brown again. Since you don't mention meds or sexual activity, can't say. May need to be checked if after ur next period it continues. Good Luck
