Tension: Stress is a common cause of muscle tension and can be perceived as spasms. Post-traumatic stress can cause psychosomatic symptoms and spasms can be one of them depending on how one defines spasms, if only sensed by the person or actually felt on exam. Regardless, with appropriate therapy should not lead to "permanent spasms.".

Note that you are: On neuroleptics. Have your physician ensure that is not the reason you are experiencing muscle spasms. You are on dizepam but no selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Are you not able to tollerate them - as this is the is the main class of meds used for ptsd. Acupuncture can be helpful for the stress you carry in muscles as well as cognitive behavioral disorder, meditation, breathing exercises.
