Female 21. severe ibs-d. is it harmful to take 2 imodium (loperamide) tablets once a week to manage the diarrhea and cramps?

No (ok for imodium): Generally, a young female like yourself should have no problems taking this small amount of imodium (loperamide) to manage diarrhea/cramps. We get more worried if someone requires more than 4 imodium (loperamide)s in a day. See your doctor if you develop any "red flag" signs, such as blood in stool, unintentional wt loss, worsening abdominal pain. This may warrant work up to r/o sprue, Crohn's, Ulc colitis,...

No: if your diarrhea is well controlled by using Imodium (loperamide) once a week, it sounds like a good solution. I would check with your doctor, but it sounds like a good solution for the long run. Good luck.
