Neither?: Many centers do not even recommend a laxative before flexible sigmoidoscopy and simply suggest one (usually 2) prepared enemas (Fleet's) be done within 2 hours before the procedure. It often helps to have a day of clear liquids before. I think most people believe mag citrate is "stronger" than milk of magnesia, (magnesium hydroxide) but, again, neither may be necessary. Hello. I tried milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) magnesium citrate and castor oil and none same to work for fully and I was wondering what should I do next..
Between Milk of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) & mag citrate, is one less likely than the other to cause cramping? Does one pull fluid into the bowels slower maybe?
Dr wants me to take 3 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia & 4 Fleet enemas. 2 enemas night before & 2 morning of before flexible sigmoidoscopy. Too much?
