A member asked:

Is it possible to have a sore or strep throat without any pain or soreness? like only red bumps on the back wall of throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difficult answer: Between 5-30% of the well population (depending on season) can carry strep in their throat without becoming ill. If you have a strep test done, it would be just as positive as if you were sick from it. In a research setting, they would use blood tests to verify a true infection, but this is not practical in an office setting. Red bumps in the back of a throat are common and non specific.
