Confusing statement: Antibiotics have little value when a sore throat is not caused by strep unless it is possible that a STD called gonorrhea might be involved.Many of the most sore throat infections are caused by viruses like mono.This is best sorted out by your doc when you share a complete history of any exposures and past treatments.
