Anesthesia varies: For placement of a ureteral stent, a variety of anesthetics can be used. If a kidney stone needs to be treated prior to stent placement then a general anesthetic is typically used. If a stent alone needs to be placed, sedation is often used. In your case, the stent may needed to have been placed emergently/urgently, necessitating less anesthesia. Talk to your urologist about this.
