Sound right on: The dating is two weeks off (earlier than) of the date of conception. This is by convention since it was the medical convention to use the first day of the last period as a standard for dating of gestational age. If you had a menses on May 3rd, you likely conceived 2 weeks after that date which is almost exactly what I would anticipate from dates you mention.
