Can be normal if...: This can be normal as long as the stools are not described as black and tarry in appearance (as this could indicate a slow bleed from the gastrointestinal tract). If constipation does not resolve or is accompanied by abdominal pain, lack of appetite, fever, or distention (swollen belly), then a follow up with the Gastroenterologist would be warranted.
