It is a good test: There are several ways to make the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis and one of them (a bit invasive) is endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). The study may reveal changes in the structure of the pancreas. Yet there are other simpler tests, like fat in the stool, diabetes and MRI of the pancreas (MRCP). For someone young who does not drink, the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis is unlikely.
