A member asked:

Is ocular tb contagious? please suggest some good id specialists in new jersey area with experience in treating this condition

Probably Not.: I don't think so but other forms of TB are contagious so I would use careful contact precautions and hand washing until it is properly treated. UMDNJ in Newark (now part of Rutgers) is a registered TB center so I would probably contact their ID department because they probably have experience with this rare condition.

Mgt/follow up: This is a good website on the topic which I hope is helpful: http://eyewiki.aao.org/Tuberculosis_Uveitis I would suggest also checking with the medical centers in Princeton NJ and Rutgers, NJ. At least nine months of therapy is suggested. It is also important to rule out HIV infection.
