A member asked:

What are drs referring to when they say "immunocompromised"? i take occasion week-long doses of prednisone every few months, am i immunocompromised?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Immune compromised means the drug used to treat your immunologic or other disease has made you more susceptible to infections, including viruses, bacteria and fungi. Prednisone can do this but not nearly so severely as some of the newer biologics and immunosuppressive drugs such as Nextel, methotrexate. etc.
