If you are dependent: on oxycodone, and you take Suboxone BEFORE you are in active withdrawal, you will very much wish you had waited!! SUboxone will cause precipitated withdrawal in people who are not already in withdrawal, and precipitated withdrawal is far more severe than naturally developing withdrawal, and can actually be life-threatening, with seizures, delirium and very very severe withdrawal symptoms.

Suboxone is used: good question - both can be abused and are, but at a much higher rate - Oxycodone is much more dangerous since it can lead to both Tolerance (need more and more to get the same "high" effect and Dependence (do not feel good without it). Both can be used to treat pain, but Oxycodone produces a much ":Higher " high.

Get advice from: a physician that knows these medications well such as a pain physician or anesthesiologist. In general it is ok to take oxycodone after being on Suboxone but depending when you stopped the suboxone, you may be somewhat resistant to oxycodone. Depending on what is being treated and why you were on suboxone, there may be better options. Consult a pain physician or anesthesiologist.

Don't know: BUT I WOULD NOT TAKE A CHANCE...Furthermore if you are taking Suboxone as a part of a addiction recovery program this would certainly violate your contract! Hope this helps STAY COOL! BE CLEAN! Dr Z

Wrong dose: Your dose of Suboxone is too low to adequately cover your withdrawal symptoms. You are tapering the dose of your Suboxone and it is not working. You need a higher dose i.e. 8mg twice a day. Talk to your doctor and get some relief from your withdrawals. Best wishes!
