Usually white but: it's possible that certain formulations may have additives which change the color. The most important thing is to buy from a reputable pharmacy and CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE. Expired retinoic acid can turn yellow, and will have reduced potency. If in doubt, take it back to where you purchased it and ask the pharmacist.
