No: Retin-a (tretinoin) makes skin cells "less sticky", keeping them from clogging up skin pores which leads to acne. Accutane (isotretinoin), however, does affect the oil forming glands and reduces sebum formation, also a cause of some of the inflammation that one can see in certain types of acne.
