Definite possiblity: Therea re alot of papers that indicate the possibility of a latent (hidden) Epstein Barr infection as a cause of autoimmunity as well as the possility that these individuals with autoimmune disease have a relatively imbalanced immune system that could contribute to reactivation of the virus and/or incomplete resolution of the infection.
