It can: An endometrioma is an ovarian cyst filled with old blood from endometriosis containing tissue. It can fill rather suddenly, but tends to fill more slowly. Corpus luteal cysts of the ovary are usually the type that can fill a ovarian cyst with bright red blood quickly post ovulation.
