Best not to worry: It is true that Epstein-Barr virus the virus that causes infections mononucleosis is associated with certain lymphomas and soft tissue tumors and even leukemias these have to do with changes of the DNA and usually happen earlier in life then in older people I think it is quite rare compared to the total number of people infected with infectious mononucleosis less than 1% of patients go malignant.
