Xiphoid process?: what you may be feeling is your xiphoid process, which may be inflamed. Xiphoid process is the bone which is attached to the end of your sternum. If your stomach can tolerate it, I would try an NSAID such as ibuprofen for a few days. If the lump is still there and painful, then you should see your doctor. Good luck.

Xiphoid process: You may be feeling the xiphoid process of the sternum. The sternum (breastbone) is made up of three parts. It is not uncommon for the xiphoid process of the sternum to be perceived as an abnormal lump when it is discovered. In adults the joint between the corpus (body) of the sternum (breastbone) and xiphoid process is fused and immobile. Inflammation in the immovable joint can cause pain.
