Cyst is discrete sac: A cyst is a discrete sac-like structure with a membrane around it that separates it from other nearby tissue. Most cysts are not dangerous and can be safely observed. However, if they seem to be growing, are painful or result in bleeding, they should be examined by a surgeon for excision. Once excised, a pathologist will examine it to determine if it is dangerous. Your cyst may be a lymph node.
