A member asked:

Do doctors use propofol for cystoscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At times: The answer depends on the reason for the cystoscopy. If a diagnostic "look see" is needed to look for reasons for blood in the urine, for example, sedation is usually not necessary although some lidocaine jelly may be used. If a biopsy may be needed or a more involved procedure necessary, then sedation or some other form of anesthesia may be used.
