EGD: I believe you meant to ask about EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy), a/k/a upper endoscopy. It is usually done in the setting of persistent nausea. vomiting, heartburn of unclear etiology or when upper gastrointestinal bleeding or stomach malignancy is suspected. Usually mucosal biopsy will be done during the procedure for tissue diagnosis.
