A member asked:

How often does dysplastic nevus turn into melanoma? what percent will actually become malignant? thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on grade: Excisional biopsy of dysplastic nevi with moderate-to-severe and/or severe dysplasia can be of benefit because of the association and potential conversion to malignant melanoma. It is suggested that excision of biopsy-diagnosed DN with mild or moderate dysplasia has less of a benefit with minimal evidence of conversion to invasive melanoma.
