Does tretinol make skin worse at first?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Tretinoin and retinol can make microcomedones more inflamed and therefore more apparent. They can also create scaling redness and tenderness of the skin. You can try using it every other night for awhile or dilute it 1:1 with a facial moisturizer. Don't stop using the medication. You will get desensitized to the side effects and get the results you are looking for.
