A member asked:

Had tubal ligation with rings done 2 years ago? is pregnancy possible? how reliable are the fallopian rings?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pregnancy with tubal: Yes- Pregnancy is possible although not likely. During the tubal ligation the tubes are tied off. The egg still ovulates and sperm can still theoretically get by the tubes occlusion. It happens, but is very rare. For the "Falope" ring the failure rate is 17.7/1000 procedures according to one study by Peterson, et.al. in the Am J Obstet Gynecol. Apr 1996;174(4):1161-8; discussion 1168-70.
