I'm 64 ... and my resting heart rate is 83... in good physical shape... exercise 5 days a wk. on no prescriptions. should i be concerned?

I would: have a Thyroid test! Your resting heart rate is high! This is especially true if you are well conditioned. Hyper (overactive) thyroid can be VERY SNEAKY at your age! Get a TSH T-4 T-3 (Especially T-3!!) Hope this helps! Dr Z

Normal: A resting heart rate of 83 is normal, although it does not suggest ultimate aerobic fitness or " athlete's heart". I suggest seeing your doctor if you have concerns or are experiencing palpitations.
