Substance use: Sometimes solutions become (part of?) the problem. It is best to tackle anxiety by thorough workup (rule out underlying medical issues, exploring trauma and or other psychological factors to work in therapy, and starting provenly safe and effective long term first line medication (eg ssri) in a multi disciplinary fashion. Valium could be used, only as symptomatic relief temporarily. Not alcohol !

Need more data: Your diazepam dose is low. Clonazepan 1mg 3x a day should help as should 20mg Lexapro (escitalopram). There's a possibility that you are bipolar in which case the Lexapro (escitalopram) should be stopped and a mood stabilized should be started. Alcohol is NOT the answer nor is pot.
