Cold: this whole thing could be cold that resolves in 3-5 days. If no vomiting, breathing difficulty or rash, it ok to watch it if he is drinking ok

My little one is about 18kg and 21 months, high fever, cough, stuffed and runny nose. Tylenol (acetaminophen) helps but how do I know if the throat has infection?
4 year old boy has a fever, 38-38.8 only respond to Nurofen and for panadol (acetaminophen) fever not going down. He had cough/ runny nose for couple of days.
What can cause in kids fever 39-40 degree C, joint and muscle pain, cough, runny nose, stomach pain? With Panadol goes back to normal but now day 4.
