In a ct scan of lung is it alright to see some pericardial fluid?

Pericardial fluid: We sometimes see a small amount of pericardial fluid on ct. It has to be interpreted in light of clinical information.

Yes: In the absence of clinical concerns about pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sack) a small amount of fluid around the heart is usually insignificant.

Small pericardial: Fluid is ok and not significant. It's not ok if it's large and it compresses on the heart muscle causing all sorts of problem including drop in blood pressure, heart failure. Ask your dr the significance of it. Sometimes it's due to malignancy, radiation exposure, infection etc. Bless u!

Probably ok: If you are asymptomatic a small amount of pericardial fluid is likely of no clinical significance. Be sure to check with your doctor to make sure that you don't have conditions that would predispose you to accumulate pericardial fluid.
