Sciatica: True sciatica is leg pain that shoots from back, down the leg past the knee. This mimics the path of the sciatic nerve, thus it's name. Mri of the spine or pelvis would serve to identify in most cases if exam and history is not clear. Herniated disc at higher level like l2-3 or l3-4, could cause pain to knee. Lower disc problems calf and foot. Nonsurgical for most disc problems. Nsaid's, pt, shots.
