A member asked:

I have hpv. is it transmitted to my kids if i'm pregnant in the future? is it harmful? how can i prevent it from transmitting if so? help!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: The genital wart HPV can be passed during the birthing process if the mom is shedding virus. They may then show up on the babies genitals in their first 2+/- years and rarely may be found on the babies vocal cords. C section delivery prior to ruptured membranes would eliminate the possibility, but is rarely needed as most are not shedding continuously.
