Jaundice?: Yellowing of the skin, known as jaundice, is the result of elevated bilirubin, a liver by-product from old red blood cells. While unlikely, liver function tests are a reasonable next step. Xanthelasma are yellow deposits of cholesterol, but also unlikely in a 9 year old. The skin can take on a greenish discoloration (a chloroma) in acute lymphocytic leukemia, so a blood count is indicated too.
