Yes: hookahs are dangerous vehicles for transmitting a variety of diseases, including oral herpes, cold viruses (adenoviruses and others), as well as more serious problems like tuberculosis. The amount of smoke taken in in hookah sessions is vastly larger than is taken in with cigarette or regular pipe smoking, so there is more nicotine and tars, or more THC/CBD than with joints or regular pipes.

Yes, you can: HSV-1 blisters can occur on many different parts of the body but are most common on or around the lips. HSV is contagious and may be transmitted by any contact with the blisters until the sore is healed. There is no cure for cold sores. However, some medications may relieve pain and soften HSV crusts on the skin.
