Probably viral: 95% of fevers in young children are viral. Fever control is also pain control, so that would be good to continue. If the fever rises to higher levels and is difficult to control see your doctor. Bacterial infections such as ear infections and urinary tract infections can sometimes occur. If the fever lasts more than 3 days also schedule a visit

Fever med: If baby is fussy, a fever med may help in the short term.Monitor intake and frequency of urine output. If taking well enough to wet diapers every 6hrs you can monitor this at home. If new symptoms arise and or output drops, call her doc.

Observe: 100.4 is technically not a fever. Current pediatric practice considers a temp to be greater than or equal to 100.8. Make sure baby is not bundles and the environmental temperature is not too high. I concerns persists, I would have the pediatrician perform a thorough physical exam and perhaps run a urine test to rule out an infection.
