A member asked:

Is it normal during the bimanual internal vaginal exam for the gynecologist to move their fingers in an in and out motion? was she feeling for something else? it was new to me and i'm not sure what she was doing it for. i was very uncomfortable as she did

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can be: It can be an important part of the exam if examining for pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, pelvic relaxation/ support problems or if a mass is suspected or palpated but it is not necessarily done with all exams.
