Outer part of lung: This just describes the location. Location is associated with symptoms. Tumors adjacent to the pleura, which has many nerve endings, causes pain with breathing whereas deeper tumors are less likely to. Metastases to the lung can be treated with chemotherapy, targeted therapy depending on pathology, or radiation therapy if in a safe-to-treat location.

It is part of Lung: Pleura is a thin membrane like covering over our lungs. So when a tumor nodule lies in the periphery of the lung tissue, the radiologist may label it as sub-pleural ...meaning it is located immediately deep to or under the pleural surface. In terms of how to treat it, it can be removed easily with surgery(VATS procedure) or it may be treated with radiotherapy...its your doctor's choice.
