Biochemicals: Anxiety is result of our body's response to perceived threat. As an animal, we prepare to either fight or flee from danger. That calls forth many hormones, changes in the chemical levels in our blood, etc. The feelings of anxiety you experience ARE part of this. Some people are sensitive to these chemicals in an allergic way and hives can be an effort to protect you from your own protection.
