Muscular LBP: Muscle pain can be along the entire length of the spinal muscles--which, incidentally attach on the sacrum below to the base of the skull above. Most symptoms occur at these attachments (myofascial or enthesopathy pain). So, if the lumbar muscles are irritated, it's not unusual this would travel upward (the opposite for neck pain/spasms). Salonpas hot patches are a great option for very local pain.
