Reflux: pain in upper stomach can be due to reflux . Especially if you notice pain after eating spicy or fried food . Try to eat at lest four hours before your bed time . Try to have three meals with three snacks in between.

Some possibilities.: Consider a discussion with your doctor about checking for Helicobacter pylori infection if you have stomach pain or GERD that fails to respond to therapy after a trial with PPI medication and more frequent, smaller meals. This can be a source of persistent GERD and it is curable with antibiotics. Your hiatus hernia may be the issue. Hiatus hernias of sufficient size can benefit from surgical tx.
