I keep getting staph infections in my nose. is there any way to prevent this from happening over and over?

Maybe: Staph is a common bacteria on the skin and in the nose. Often the hair follicles within the nose are irritated due to pulling nose hairs. Frequently this leads to the infection manifested by a red nose that is very tender to touch. Be careful with the nose hair and when it happens apply neosporin or other topical antibiotic ointments. If continues see you ENT doctor.

PossibleButDifficult: Recurrent staph infections, both MERSA and MSSA, are a growing problem and not easy to prevent. Prevention often consists of taking antibiotics for 1-2 weeks + ointment for nose and special shower or bath twice a week. Family members also need Rx if they are carrying staph. Rx can be successful in the short term but by 6 months patients are often recolonized by staph again.
